The Furuno FS-2570 is the new MF/HF radiotelephones for general communications and GMDSS applications. The FS-2570 maintain a continuous watch on a distress call even while you are exchanging normal voice messages. DSC channels can be individually set or all selected channels can be automatically scanned.

The IC-M603 VHF/DSC marine transceiver has built-in Class D DSC functions as well as providing intercom capabilities and other remote functionality including foghorn and a loud hailer. The IC-M603, including the supplied microphone, withstands submersion in up to 1m depth of water for 30 minutes

 

 

Long Range Identification and Tracking or LRIT

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted an amendment to Chapter V of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea 1974 (SOLAS), which introduces new mandatory position reporting obligations for SOLAS ships. It is called Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) and requires vessels to automatically transmit identity and position with date/time at 6-hour intervals.

LRIT promises to provide a much clearer picture of merchant shipping activity to key stakeholders as we continue on the relentless drive towards complete eNavigation. The system has the potential to increase safety and security and by giving Port States early indication of a vessel’s position and route details, it could even provide a more seamless experience from deep sea, to coastal passage and port approach right up to dockside.

Every flag state will be responsible for its own vessel’s LRIT data through National LRIT Data Centres. This ensures the security of a vessel’s information in that the data will only be viewed by organisations that have a valid reason to do so.

Ship Security Alert System or SSAS

The SAILOR TT-3000SSA System is based upon the well-known and reliable Inmarsat-C service, known for its unique role in maritime safety and for more than a decade an integral part of the IMO's GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System). It has been developed by Thrane & Thrane to supply customers with a system that fulfils the new SOLAS requirements from IMO (International Maritime Organisation).

When one of the alert buttons is activated, an alert is generated and transmitted that includes the identification of the vessel and its position. One typical recipient is the Research and Rescue Centre in the vessel’s country of registration.

The SAILOR TT-3000SSA System offers the opportunity to use additional fleet tracking software, which will enhance Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) and fleet tracking possibilities.
